The annual holiday steam-train ride from the Bryson City depot out to the 'North Pole.' Conductors hand out warm cocoa and a treat, the Polar Express soundtrack plays, and Santa boards on the way back to give every kid a silver sleigh bell. 1¼ hour round-trip. Tickets sell out for the prime December weekends well in advance — book early. About a 30-minute drive from Franklin to the Bryson City depot.
