Good to know

Is the Beer Mile actually a mile?

Roughly — it's the downtown core, easily walkable in 15 minutes if you don't stop.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes at Lazy Hiker, Currahee, and Rock House. Rathskeller varies by night.

Best brewery for live music?

Lazy Hiker hosts most Thursday nights. Currahee runs Fridays.

Family-friendly?

All taprooms are family-friendly until ~9pm. Bring kids' games or expect to entertain them yourself.

Can I walk around downtown with a drink?

Yes — Franklin has a downtown Social District where you can carry an open drink between participating spots, noon to 9 PM daily. Buy from a participating business (Lazy Hiker, the Rathskeller, Rock House at Outdoor 76, Gracious Plates, Motor Company Grill, J.R. Chophouse) and it goes in the official gem-emblem cup ($4). Stay inside the marked zone — the courthouse and the three downtown squares are alcohol-free — and finish one drink before entering the next bar.
