Biology and Identification of Ferns

Explore the diversity of ferns and their allies in the Southern Appalachians through hands-on fieldwork and laboratory study. Students will learn to identify seedless vascular plants using dichotomous keys, examine their morphology, ecology, evolution, and life cycles, and collect specimens during daily field excursions.
