Franklin's big Fourth of July — Macon County's America 250 Celebration. Patriotic Parade and Main Street festivities 10 AM-2 PM (free watermelon while it lasts, contests). Recreation Park activities from 4 PM — food vendors, live music headlined by Braden Rumfelt of American Idol, face painting, inflatables, tie-dyeing, cornhole, historical games. Fireworks display with music at 10 PM produced by Munnerlyn Pyrotechnics. Free; (828) 524-2516. The town's biggest civic tradition.
